CAE Associates Presents at the 10th International LS-DYNA Users ConferenceJune 16, 2008
Eric Stamper and Steve Hale, members of CAE Associates technical staff, and expert users of ANSYS LS-DYNA co-authored a whitepaper and presented at the 10th International LS-DYNA Users Conference.
The whitepaper entitled “The Use of LS-DYNA Models to Predict Containment of Disk Burst Fragments” discusses a process commonly used by turbomachinery manufactures to test the centrifugal strength of their rotors in a vertical axis spin test called a disc burst test. The design of the containment shell that encloses the disc burst event is critical to ensure the safety of the surrounding area. The current method employed for analysis of these containment shells is approximate. An analysis method developed using ANSYS LS-DYNA can be used to provide more accurate predictions of these containment failure limits.
The LS-DYNA users conference was held June 8 – 10th in Dearborn, MI.
