ANSYS SpaceClaim Direct Modeler Webinar

An overview of ANSYS SpaceClaim Direct Modeler (SCDM) software presented by Pat Cunningham of CAE Associates. ANSYS SCDM provides a new way to manipulate your CAD models. The model becomes completely dynamic, allowing you to move, stretch and add and remove geometry features with ease. All changes to the geometry occur in real time enabling instant feedback on design iterations.

 

 

This functionality will work with existing CAD models from 3rd party systems as well as geometry built directly in ANSYS SCDM. The user can also dimension these changes, making it simple to parametrically alter the original geometry model.   For example, an IGES file can be imported into ANSYS SCDM and modified as if it was fully parametric.

This type of geometry creation and manipulation is known as Direct Modeling. ANSYS SCDM connects to ANSYS Workbench enabling rapid design changes and updated simulation results.  During this webinar, we will demonstrate how engineers can easily explore their ideas and problem solve in 3D, reuse and quickly edit models from any CAD system, and simplify models for analysis.

ANSYS SCDM allows users to quickly create and iterate design concepts, using Pull, Move, Fill, and Combine tools which enable hands-on 3-D design.    Engineers can quickly and easily create beam and shell analysis models from solid geometry, extract mid-surfaces from solids, along with a host of other time-saving features.  Geometry from most of the popular CAD programs can be read directly into SpaceClaim, or by using common file formats including ACIS, STEP, IGES, ECAD, Rhinoceros, CGR, DWG, DXF, STL, OBJ, XAML, VRML, and 3D PDF.
