CAD Cleanup - ANSYS e-Learning
Much of the hard work in setting up an analysis is related to creating the desired mesh. However; complicated geometry can make this a difficult task. This e-Learning session demonstrates ANSYS DesignModeler's global search and repair utilities that can be used to clean up complicated CAD geometry. These features will show how CAD geometry that fails to import as a solid body can be reconstructed back into a solid body.
Another common task is to simplify the CAD geometry for the purpose of helping to improve the overall mesh quality. DesignModeler is used to reconstruct more simple geometric features from the existing geometry. While making these simplifications, the various modeling operations available in DesignModeler are demonstrated.
CAE Associates Project Manager Eric Stamper highlights the many solid modeling techniques that can be used within DesignModeler to prepare complicated CAD geometry for an analysis.
