Parametric Best Practices e-Learning Presentation

One of the many benefits of the ANSYS Workbench finite element modeling environment is the close integration with CAD model geometry. Most commercial CAD programs (SolidWorks, Creo Parametric (ProE), NX, Inventor, SolidEdge, etc.) use a modeling approach that allows the CAD user to parametrically define the features of a design. The ANSYS Workbench Environment can help you take advantage of the parametric definition of your CAD geometry in the analysis stages of your design process.

This presentation guides you through the process of setting up and analyzing your CAD and finite element model parametrically. You learn how to:

  • Transfer both geometry and parameter information from CAD to the analysis environment
  • Set up your finite element model once, and automatically generate results for a host of design configurations.
  • Determine which of your design parameters you need to pay close attention to based on their effect on performance.
  • Analyze a specific set of design variations or use one of the numerical tools in the Workbench Design Xploration module to set up and run a Design of Experiments (DOE) analysis. Your DOE results can then be used to optimize your design configuration and determine the robustness of your design.
